The Future of Islam–Khilafah Returns !

Posted by Muhammad Awais Tahir

A collection of narrations on the return of Khilafah. The spring of Islam will return!

Then there will be a Khilafah on the way of Prophet-hood

There are so many narrations regarding the return of Khilafah and the spread of Islam over the whole Globe that it’s not possible for anyone to claim to have gathered all references on the topic. This proves that that Khilafah is still an ideal system for the Muslim World and infact the only solution to overcome the Oppression and Shirk of Secular Systems. Replacement of all secular systems with the divine is the final fate of this world. Islam is not brutal, and does not command us to convert people to Islam by force. But Islam is realistic and doesn’t want us to free ourselves from weapon when all other systems around the world are secretly and even openly working to eliminate Islam. Islamic ‘peace-principle’ is elaborated best in these Ayaat:

…And were it not for Allah’s repelling some men with others, the earth would certainly be in a state of disorder; but Allah is Gracious to the creatures. (Surah Al Baqarah 2:251)

…And had there not been Allah’s repelling some people by others, certainly there would have been pulled down cloisters and churches and synagogues and mosques in which Allah’s name is much remembered; and surely Allah will help him who helps His cause; most surely Allah is Strong, Mighty. (Surah Al Hajj 22:40)
Hadith Set # 1 – Timeline of the Ummah

It was narrated by Ahmed in his Musnad, from Al-Nu’man b. Bashir, who said: “We were sitting in the mosque of the Messenger of Allah (saw), and Bashir was a man who did not speak much, so Abu Tha’labah Al-Khashnee came and said: ‘Oh, Bashir bin Sa’ad, have you memorized the words of the Messenger of Allah (saw) regarding the rulers?’ Huthayfah replied, ‘I have memorized his words’. So Abu Tha’labah sat down and Huthayfah said, ‘The Messenger of Allah (saw) said ‘Prophet-hood will be amongst you as long as Allah wishes, then He will lift it up when He wishes to lift it up. Then there will be a Khilafah on the way of the Prophet, and it will be as long as Allah wishes it to be, then Allah will lift it up when He wishes to lift it up. Then there will be an inheritance rule (ملكًا عاضًا), and it will last as long as Allah wishes it to, then Allah will lift it up if when He wishes to lift it up. Then there will be a coercive rule(ملكًا جبرية), and it will last as long as Allah wishes it to be, then Allah will lift it up when He wishes to lift it up. Then there will be a Khilafah on the way of Prophet-hood.’ Then he was silent.”

Reference: Masnad Ahmed bin Hanbal (Hadith # 18430) , As-Saheeha al-Albani (Hadith # 5). It has been declared Hasan by Sh’uaib Arnaoot, and al-Albani classified it as Sahih. The text quoted is the one from Masnad Ahmed.
Hadith Set # 2 – Islam will enter every home

Thauban reported that Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) said: Allah drew the ends of the world near one another for my sake. And I have seen its eastern and western ends. And the dominion of my Ummah would reach those ends which have been drawn near me and I have been granted the red and the white treasure and I begged my Lord for my Ummah that it should not be destroyed because of famine, nor be dominated by an enemy who is not amongst them to take their lives and destroy them root and branch, and my Lord said: Muhammad, whenever I make a decision, there is none to change it. Well, I grant you for your Ummah that it would not be destroyed by famine and it would not be dominated by an enemy who would not be amongst it and would take their lives and destroy them root and branch even if all the people from the different parts of the world join hands together (for this purpose), but it would be from amongst them, viz. your Ummah, that some people would kill the others or imprison the others.

Reference: Sahih Muslim (Hadith # 2761). Also there in Sunan Abu D’awud, Jami’ Tirmidh, Sunan Ibn e Majah and Masnad Ahmed. Al-Albani brought it out in As-Saheeha as Hadith # 2. Al-Albani has quoted all the narrations related to the return of Khilafah and the spread of Islam over the whole globe in the very beginning of his book As-Saheeha.

It was narrated by Ahmad in his Musnad, from Tameem Al-Daari, who said that he heard the Prophet (saw) say: “Verily, this matter (Islam) will reach where day and night have reached, and it will not leave a house of Madar (mud or clay) or a house of Wabar (fur of camels and goats, i.e. tents) except Allah will bring it into this Deen, (either) with the honour of an honoured one, or the disgrace of a disgraced one; honour with which Allah honours Islam, and disgrace with which Allah disgraces Kufr.”

Reference: Masnad Ahmed (Hadith # 16998), Al M’ujam Al Kabeer At-Tabarani (Hadith # 1280), Haakim (Hadith # 8326). Shu’aib Arnaoot says that it is Sahih according to the condition of Sahih Muslim. Haakim declared it Sahih according to the conditions of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim). Zahabi says in his talkhees that it is according to the conditions of Bukhari and Muslim. The text taken is from Masnad Imam Ahmed.

It was also narrated by Imam Ahmed, on the authority of Al-Miqdad bi Al-Aswad Al-Kindi (ra), who said that he heard the Messenger of Allah (saw) say: “There will not be one house on the face of the earth, made of either Madar or Wabar (meaning all homes), except Allah will bring the word of Islam upon them, (either) with the honour of an honoured one, or the disgrace of a disgraced one; Where Allah will honour them and make them of its people, or He will disgrace them and they will not submit to it.”

Reference: Masnad Ahmed (Hadith # 23865), Sunan Al Kubra lil Bayhiqi (Hadith # 19089), Authenticated by Sh’uaib Arnaoot. Al-Haakim declared this hadith to be Sahih according to the conditions of the two Shaykhs in his Mustadrak and Zahabi has said the same in his Talkhees. The text quoted is from Masnad Ahmed. A similar narration is in Ibn e Habban too (Hadith # 1631 and 1632) that has been authenticated by al-Albani in As-Saheeh (Hadith # 3).
Hadith Set # 3 – Khilafah’s revival will begin from Al-Quds (Ash Shaam)

Abu Umamah Al-Bahili (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said,”A group of people from my Ummah shall remain steadfast to the truth; they will continue to fight in obedience to the command of Allah and remain dominant over their enemies. Those who will oppose them shall not do them any harm — except for hardship and hunger. They will remain in this condition until victory (or that the Hour overtakes them).’ He was asked, ‘O Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), where are they?’ He replied, ‘In Al-Quds and its precincts.”

Reference: Masnad Ahmed (Hadith # 22374), Tehzeeb ul Aathar At-Tabari (Hadith # 932), M’ujam Al-Kabeer (Hadith # 7643). Al-Haythami says that all the narrators are Strong. Shu’aib Arnaoot says it is Hasan Ligharihi except the last statement “O Messenger of Allah where are they…”

It was narrated by Abu Dawud, on the authority of Ibn Zughb Al-Ayadi, who said that Ali Abdullah b. Hawalah Al-Azdi came to him and said: “The Messenger of Allah (saw) sent us to seek booty on foot, so we returned and did not find anything, and he (saw) could see the exhaustion in our faces, so he stood up and said: ‘Oh Allah, do not leave them for me, where I would be too weak for them, and do not leave them to themselves, where they would be too weak for themselves, and do not leave them for the people, where they would keep (the good) from them, keeping it for themselves.’ Then he (SAW) placed his hand on my head…” (or he said: “…on my forehead): ‘Oh, Ibn Hawalah, if you see that the Khilafah has come to the sacred land (Al-Quds), then the earthquakes, the troubles, and the great happenings have come, and the hour on that day is nearer to the people than my hand here on your head.’”

Reference: Sunan Abu Dawud (Hadith # 2537), Mastadrak Al Haakim (Hadith # 8309), Al-Albani has classified it as Sahih. Haakim says that it is Sahih according to the conditions of the two Shaikhs and they did not narrate it. Az Zahabi classified it as Sahih.

This hadith indicates that the Khilafah will come to the land of Al-Quds. It cannot be said that the Khilafah came to it during the Khilafah of ‘Umar (RA), because the earthquakes, troubles and tumultuous events did not come at that time. This means that there will be a second coming of the Khilafah in which these events will follow.

Salamah bin Nufail Al-Kindi RA says that one day I was sitting with Prophet Muhammad SAW that a person said” O Prophet of Allah! The value of horse has decreased in the eyes of people and they have left the weapons and they say that Jihad has ended, because battle has ended “. On (listening) it the Prophet Muhammad SAW faced him and said” they are lying, fighting has stopped for now and a section (group) of my Ummah will always fight (do Jihad) for the truth. Allah will turn them away from Kufr to Imaan and will give them rizq from amongst them until Qiyamah and until the promise of Allah comes. And Allah has written good in the forehead of horses until Qiyamah. And He has revealed on me that my ruh will be taken away and you will follow me after dividing into several groups, and you will kill each other. And the center (‘Uqr) of Momineen (believers) is Ash-Shaam.

Reference: Sunan An Nasai (Hadith # 3561), Sahih Ibn e Al-Habban (Hadith # 7307), Masnad Ahmed (Hadith # 17006). Al-Albani classified it as Sahih. Sh’uaib Arnaoot ranked it Sahih in his Classification of the collection of Ibn e Habban. The narration of Ibn e Habban is from Al-Nawas b. Sam’aan. The hadith has several other chains. The text quoted is from Sunan An-Nasai.

Salamah bin Nufail RA says: The Prophet of Allah (Peace be Upon him) said: The center (‘uqr) of Islam is Ash-Shaam.

Reference: Al M’ujam Al Kabeer At-Tabarani (Hadith # 6359). Al Haythmi says that the narrators are trustworthy (Hadith # 16656).

These narrations are with regards to the second ‘Uqr of Dar Al-Islam, and not the first ‘Uqr first, for the meaning of the ‘Uqr of the land is its centre and origin, and the ‘Uqr of the first Islamic State was in Al-Madina Al-Munawwarah; therefore, this means that what is meant here is the ‘Uqr of the second Islamic State, as it is pretty evident from the flow of the hadith itself.

‘Oh, Ibn Hawalah, if you see that the Khilafah has come to the sacred land (Al-Quds), then the earthquakes, the troubles, and the great happenings have come, and the hour on that day is nearer to the people than my hand here on your head.’

Reference: Sunan Abu Dawud (Hadith # 2537), Masnad Ahmed (Hadith # 22540). Al-Albani Classified it as Sahih. This hadith is narrated by Abdullah bin Hawalah.

What does Ash-Shaam include?

Ash-Shaam is the region which covers Jordan, Syria, Palestine, Lebanon and part of Iraq. And some narrations (as mentioned above) refer specifically to ‘the Holy Land’ i.e. Al-Quds when using the word Ash-Shaam.
Hadith Set # 4 – The hadith of the location of the Hijrah of Ibrahim, and the Hijrah after the Hijrah

It was narrated by M’uawiya that he heard the prophet Muhammad صلى الله علبه وسلم: “Hijrah will not be terminate until Tawbah is terminated, and Tawbah will not be terminated until sun rises from the west”

Reference: Sunan Abu Dawud (Hadith # 2481), Classified as Sahih by al-Albani, Sunan Ad Darmi (Hadith # 2568), Masnad Ahmed (17369). Similar Hadith in Masnad Ahmed (Hadith # 1693) narrated by ‘Amr bin Al-‘Aas, classified by Sh’uaif Arnaoot as Hasan.

It was narrated by Abu Dawud in ‘Al-Sunan’, on the authority of Abdullah b. ‘Amr (ra): “There will be a Hijrah after a Hijrah, so the best people on earth are those who keep to the (land of the) Hijrah of Ibrahim (i.e. Al-Shaam).”

Reference: Sunan Abu Dawud (Hadith # 2484), Masnad Ahmed Hanbal (Hadith # 6952), Mastadrak al-Haakim (Hadith # 8497). Authenticated by al-Albani in As Saheeha, See As-Saheeha Hadith # 3203. This hadith was narrated by at least five Tabi’ Tabi’een, from three Tabi’een, from two Sahaba.

Hijrah is to leave Dar Al-Kufr (land ruled by Kufr) and to emigrate to Dar Al-Islam (land ruled by Islam). Hence, these narrations prove that Khilafah (rule of divine laws) will return. They also tell us the importance of Ash-Shaam in return of Khilafah. This understanding supports the hadith regarding the ‘Uqr of Dar Al-Islam.

Hadith Set # 5 – The continuing Struggle

Some people think that no Muslim organization is on the right path. Western Media has successfully made the concept of Khilafah alien to most of us and they are happy maintaining the status-quo, and they have also turned majority of us against those who are actively striving to bring back Islam as a System.

Jabir b. ‘Abdullah reported: I heard the Messenger of Allah (May peace be upon him) say: A section of my people will not cease fighting for the Truth and will prevail till the Day of Resurrection. He said: Jesus son of Mary would then descend and their (Muslims’) commander would invite him to come and lead them in prayer, but he would say: No, some amongst you are commanders over some (amongst you). This is the honour from Allah for this Ummah.

It has been narrated on the authority of Thauban that the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said: A group of people from my Umma will always remain triumphant on the right path and continue to be triumphant (against their opponents). He who deserts them shall not be able to do them any harm. They will remain in this position until Allah’s. Command is executed.”

Narrated Muawiya: I heard the Prophet saying, “A group of people amongst my followers will remain obedient to Allah’s orders and they will not be harmed by anyone who will not help them or who will oppose them, till Allah’s Order comes upon them while they are still on the right path.”

A man of Allah’s messenger’s companions called Abi Jam’ah reported: “We ate lunch with Allah’s messenger prayer and peace upon him and Abu Obida Ibn Al-Jarah said: “Allah’s messenger, will there be any people better than us? We embraced Islam with you and fought in the cause of Allah with you. Allah’s messenger prayer and peace upon him said: “Yes, people who come after you and believe in me without seeing me”.

Al-Haakim says that the hadith is Sahih according to the conditions of the Two Shaikhs but they did not narrate it. Imam Zahabi say its Sahih. Shu’aib Arnaoot says that the Hadith is Sahih.

It was narrated by Muslim in his book of Sahih Ahadith, on the authority of Abu Hurairah (ra): “Islam began as a stranger and it will return as a stranger, so, blessed are the strangers.”

A’isha reported: I heard Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: The (system) of night and day would not end until the people have taken to the worship of Lat and ‘Uzza. I said: Allah’s Messenger, I think when Allah has revealed this verse:” He it is Who has sent His Messenger with right guidance, and true religion, so that He may cause it to prevail upon all religions, though the polytheists are averse (to it)” , it implies that (this promise) is going to be fulfilled. Thereupon he (Allah’s Apostle) said: It would happen as Allah would like. Then Allah would send the sweet fragrant air by which everyone who has even a mustard grain of faith in Him would die and those only would survive who would have no goodness in them. And they would revert to the religion of their forefathers.

The topic is so vast that no once claim to gather all narrations or Ayaat on the topic. In this particular write-up I have not mentioned the narrations of ‘Isa bin Maryam عليه السلام and Imam Al-Mahdi عليه السلام. There are so many narrations regarding their times. All the problems we have today will be reversed at that time. There will be so much abundance of money that there’ll be no one to take Zakah. The injustice will be replaced with justice. We all know of the narrations of these two heroes of Islam to come, and how they’ll bring the ultimate victory to Islam. I’ve also left the topic of Khurasaan (an army from the east) and the Battle of Hind untouched. I plan to pen them down under another topic: An Army from the East. There are specific narrations regarding Yemen too. What we forget is that this change will not happen overnight. Millions of people will play their part in it and how this change will begin and start witnessing the fruits even before Mahdi arrives. The age we are living in seems to be the time of boom. There is a moral awakening in Muslims throughout the Globe. The number of Passionate Muslims who want to see Islam implemented as a system is increasing exponentially.

We don’t find a single inch on earth where the rule of Allah is established. We are yet to go through the greatest punishment from Allah at the hands of Christians and Jews, but no matter how tough the times, how embarrassing the situation is, how impossible the scenario is; the final victory is going to be ours. We have to decide quickly, whether we want our name to be written amongst those who strived to make the Kalimah of Allah the supreme or not.

A time will come when you will have to make a decision, and you can’t go on with your ‘normal’ life which actually is a silent support of the secular system. I will quote three hadith to prove that you can’t be ‘neutral’!

Narrated Abdullah bin Amr RA that the Messenger of Allah PBUH said “If you see my Ummah afraid of telling the oppressor: You are an oppressor, it is farewell to the Ummah”.

Reference: Mustadrak al Hakim 7036, Hakim said Sahih Isnaad also declared Sahih by Ad Dhahabi in Al Talkhees.

Narrated Abu Saeed and Abu Hurairah: The Prophet PBUH said: “Mentally deficient rulers will come to you, and make the most evil, worst people near to them, and delay the prayer (not pray it at the fixed time). Every one of you, who realizes that, must not be policemen, not a corporal, not a collector and not a treasurer with them.”

Reference: Ibn Hibban 4586, Abu Ya’la 1115, Tabarani Majma Sagheer 9498 and Majma Zawaid 9225, Classified as Sahih by al-Albani in Silsilah As-Sahiha (Hadith # 360)

It was narrated by Al-Haakim, and classified as Sahih, the narration of Abdullah b. ‘Amr, who said: “There will come a time when there will not be one believer left, but will rush to Al-Shaam.”

Reference: Mastadrak Al Haakim (Hadith # 8413), Dhahbi says it is according to the conditions of Bukhari and Muslim, in his Talkhees.

SO, IT’S YOUR FUTURE , MY FUTURE….

ONLY IF WE OWN IT

May Allah Make us all Soldiers of His Army, striving to make His orders the Supreme!
